It’s still about 100 degrees here in Arizona and I was looking forward to a break from the heat with a weekend trip to Chicago for a friends wedding. My heart was set on cooler temps, but alas, it was not meant to be! So I needed a great fall transition dress that worked with both fall colors and the warm temps.
Packing for a destination wedding when you are right in the middle of two seasons can be really difficult. Will it be hot, will it be cold? You can’t just wake up and decide that day. You need to be prepared so you can pack the right outfit… and all the right accessories to go with it.
Fall Transition Dress
I was on a mission to find the perfect dress for an outdoor wedding in September. If you’ve ever been to Chicago, you’ll know that it could be hot and humid or cold and rainy… or both in the same day! I needed an outfit that covered both, and that wasn’t too pricey.
That’s when I found this little gem. It was exactly what I was looking for and is under $60! It was lightweight and flowy, which made it easy to move around in (on the dance floor). The colors were on the darker side, making it perfect for fall… but the floral pattern still screamed summer!
It was shorter, yet had nice long sleeves. And the waist area was just a perfect fit enough to hide that little mom tummy I have going on.
I paired it with some classic tan heels and simple gold jewelry to finish the look. The dress has enough colors and patterns in it that you don’t want your shoes to be too colorful too. And a nice nude heel elongates your legs. Which this mama needs!
This soon became my favorite look this fall and I just might need to plan a fun date night in order to have a chance to wear it again!
PS. These heels (under $30!) are my new favorites! I bought them specificaly for this dress but they were really comfotable and even look great with jeans. So you’ll be seeing them around a lot more!
